Erasmus+
The Erasmus+ Program is being implemented as of 2014 and is an expanded version of the "Erasmus Program", which was in effect for many years before.

The Erasmus+ program is built on two main elements;

  1. Student Exchange Programs (Study Mobility)
  2. Internship opportunity abroad (Internship Mobility)

Let's get to know Erasmus?

Desiderius Erasmus, (1466, Rotterdam - 1536, Basel) is a thinker of Dutch/Rotterdam origin. He is considered one of the representatives of humanism movement in Renaissance period and contributed to the unification of Europe under a common art and science idea. He influenced the teaching philosophy of his age with his thoughts. The best-known literary work of Erasmus was the book of “Praise of Folly” which was accepted as a challenge to bigotry throughout history. For these reasons, it was deemed suitable to name the exchange program as "Erasmus".

Why Erasmus+?

An international education opportunity
To increase international cooperation.
To implement academic exchange and youth exchange programs.
Developing cooperation projects in the fields of internship, business and sports as well as exchange.

Application Process for Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ applications are announced by universities via internet. Applications are usually received online and results are announced within a few months. Applications for the following year are received in February-March of the previous year. In other words, for the Erasmus+ applications to be made for the next year, all the announcements should be followed one year before.

How can I participate in Erasmus+ Student Mobility?

The ranking is made on the basis of foreign language level and grade point average. The results of exams such as KPDS, YDS, YÖKDİL are accepted equivalent to Erasmus + foreign language exam. The minimum grade point average (such as 2.2/4 or 72/100) is stated in announcements. Students are ranked within the quotas allocated to the relevant schools and faculties.

How long can I stay in the Program Country with Erasmus+?

The Erasmus+ program generally provides mobility for 3-12 months. This period can be up to 24 months in the integrated doctorate program and Medical education.

Does Erasmus+ Have a Financial Burden for Students?

The Erasmus+ program is a financially supported project. The expenses of the selected students are covered by the monthly grants from the European Union.

What are the Erasmus+ Obligations?

If students voluntarily (without compelling reason) terminate their mobility shortly after they start the mobility (without providing a minimum period of 3 months), the grant paid to the student is demanded back. If the student's responsibilities are not fulfilled after the start of the mobility (not attending the courses or not taking the exams), the student is asked to pay back the paid grants.

What are the Benefits of Erasmus+ for Students?

With the Erasmus+ exchange program, our students will have the opportunity to improve their personal competencies such as academic level, foreign language and general knowledge.

Erasmus+ Overall Evaluation

The statements mentioned above are general rules about the Erasmus+ program. Although these rules are mostly similar in each university, they can also have differences. For this reason, our students should follow the university announcements in order to avoid any unjust treatment and take Erasmus+ Institution Coordinators’ advice at every stage.
